Comments: Dear Classmates,
What a wonderful time we had during the 4th. Seeing and talking with classmates was the highlight. A bunch of us (Jerry J., Bob J., Dave B., Dave C., John J., Luetta P., Claire S., and me) worked on the float for the parade. We had a large trailer and the Gheller truck donated for our use by Richie Gheller. As most of you know, Tissa Gheller passed away last October. She was able to make it to our first committee planning meeting and was able to get the trailer for us. We felt that our float was a tribute to her as well as to all the armed forces. However, we didn't win any prizes. :<( Most of our classmates rode the float, so it was pretty full. Could have fit a few more on. We had a "blast"! BTW, Claire who is an expert in calligraphy freehanded all the lettering on the signs. Looked pretty professional to me. She and her son also donated the banner that he made way out in Seattle. It was perfect and one we can save for another time. Saturday night we met for dinner at the Black River Lodge, formerly Circle Hills. Again we had a wonderful time reminiscing. Bob Juntunen graciously took on the role of M.C. He sang an appropriate song about getting older and getting forgetful, can't remember things. Lo and behold, he forgot some of the words and had to start over. Very appropriate, I think, and it got lots of laughs from the audience. BTW, the donations over and above the cost of the reunion amounted to more than $500. This will go to the Friends and Alumni Ass. for field trips and things that the kids in school may need. Should you still want to donate, send contributions to Dave Bulinski. We were all impressed that Claire and her husband biked from Minot, N.D. after taking a train from Seattle to that point. That was over 1700 miles! I gotta tell you that she's really in shape! We're hoping that an article with picture will be in the Globe sometime soon. We decided to have another reunion in 5 years, so perhaps those of you who weren't able to come could plan for that. Don't worry about not knowing anyone. It all comes together and it becomes like we were in school very recently. If you've never come to one of the reunions, make this one your first, five years from now. In addition, we will plan to meet informally, whoever is in town, on a yearly basis. The time, etc. will be in the Globe the week of the 4th. If you're in town, join us. Jerry says that this website will be up until the end of December. If there is enough interest shown, that means people contributing article, pictures, etc., he said he can renew for another year. In conclusion the committee members were Carol G. Eilo, Luetta P. Flaa, Bob Juntunen, Jerry Juntunen, Dave Bulinski, Dave Carpenedo, John Johnson, and me. My thanks to all of them for their ideas and hard work. The whole thing couldn't have been done without them. Hope you all have a wonderful summer. My best to all of you.
